Slovenska cesta is the most important street in Ljubljana. In its central part between Šubičeva and Gosposvetska road a former transit corridor was transformed into a central public space of the capital. Personal motor traffic is no longer allowed there, two-lane carriageway is used only for public transport. An intense promenade that runs along the eastern edge of the street, became the distinguishing element of Slovenska cesta. The entire area got a new paving: concrete bus carriageway in the middle of the street and on both sides extended pavement of concrete paving stones in different structures and colors. On the sidewalks a shared use of pedestrians and cyclists is formed. Roadway and sidewalks are separated by curbs with a minimum height difference. On the renovated area four bus stops are carried out. A new urban equipment is set: bus shelters, benches-islands, fountains, bicycle racks, advertising billboards, space for events.
All types of utility lines are reconstructed: sewer, water, electrical power, telecommunication lines, pipeline, street lighting, traffic lights. Trees are planted in underground cells, which prevent contact of the roots and utility lines.
