The Urban Planning Institute of Ljubljana
LUZ, d.d. (Ljubljanski urbanistični zavod, d.d. - Ljubljana Urban Planning Institute) was established 50 years ago with the purpose of drafting the general plan of the city of Ljubljana. Since the establishment, we have drafted numerous urban planning schemes and we can say that we are ‘at home’ as far as spatial planning is concerned. We are characterised by tradition, versatility, quality and connections. We have many satisfied clients and successfully concluded projects.
Individually and in cooperation with business partners, companies, experts and groups, we draft plans in the areas of spatial planning, urban planning, architecture and landscape architecture, environmental protection, transport planning, public utility infrastructure, energy and spatial information systems. We are increasingly developing new working areas. We are making our presence felt also in the area of urban economics and are examining opportunities offered by international projects.
Our employees are well-educated and experienced architects, landscape architects, urban planners, construction engineers, surveyors and informatics engineers. We are trained for carry out organisation, management and implementation of major projects in the area of spatial planning. Since our establishment 50 years ago, we have drafted urban planning schemes for numerous towns in Slovenia, former Yugoslavia and Europe. We also worked in Algeria and Iraq in the 1980s. In addition to spatial and urban planning, we also excel in the planning of buildings and transport infrastructure. We have participated in the planning of more than 50% of the entire motorway infrastructure in Slovenia.
We have recently expanded our activities to the area of comprehensive engineering consultancy. In the last two years we took over and successfully carried out tasks in the following projects:

implementation of a military airfield (urban planning documents, project engineering, etc.);

Commercial zones: Feniks (400 ha), Želodnik (10 ha), Oreh (10 ha);

Sports infrastructure: Sports Park Štozice: Football stadium (16,000 seats), indoor sports arena (12,000 seats) with commercial centre (100,000 m2) and multi-storey car park (4,500 parking spots).

Almost 100 employees generate EUR 10 mil. of annual turnover, including project engineering and planning. We are the most successful company in our branch in Slovenia and in the wider region.
With the know-how we possess, with the experience we have gained, and with the energy we have, we are capable to identify ourselves with and realize the most demanding concepts in space.
